  3. The DVISLM driver for the Atari laser printer  utilizes the DMA interface
  4. using SCSI-Like commands.  Therefore, there is a potential for the destruction
  5. of data on any hard drive using the same DMA interface.
  6.  
  7.     The program as distributed is set to reference the printer at SCSI
  8. address 7.  Before exercising this program, install the dvist fonts and
  9. software onto a floppy disk.  Test the dvist program on that floppy.
  10. Then disconnect your hard drive and invoke the dvislm program in a manner
  11. similar to:

  13.     dvislm -v96 dvist
  14.  
  15.     If pages are printed everything should be ok and it should be safe to
  16. re-install your hard drive.  (This assumes, of course, that your slm printer
  17. functioned properly with the hard drives in the first place.)

  19.     If it doesn't operate (i.e. hangs), read the SLM operations guide to
  20. determine your printers interface and then follow the instructions given
  21. in the file dvist.tex (or .dvi) for a brief description on how to modify
  22. dvislm to match your printers address.  Again, before connecting the
  23. hard drive, test the program on a floppy based system.
